Parenting isn't an easy role for a neurotypical child and raising a neurodivergent child across the lifespan can prove to be even more challenging. I hope you will join me for an informative and frank webinar about parenting across the lifespan from a Mom, Advocate, and Activist for People with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
Training participants will learn:
Overview of Autism characteristics,
Understand learning styles, executive function, and critical thinking and its impact on independence and self-esteem.
Learn strategies that encourage independence and autonomy; building on strengths, interests, and motivations.
Learn about services Alta Vista ILS offers to families and people with disabilities.
In this session on Autism and Inclusion, we will explore the shift from the traditional medical model of disability to the more empowering social model. The session will emphasize a collaborative approach between community partners and individuals with neurodivergent identities, using practical strategies and tools to create inclusive environments that promote understanding and support social communication. We will also discuss strategies to help neurodivergent individuals navigate social rules, understand consequences, and make positive choices.
Support and training for various diagnoses can be found on our Resources page.
